#PedraliColoursofLightness at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024
16 Apr, 2024
The new collections of the 100% Italian brand presented through a setup inspired by transparency, colour and lightness
Pedrali, Italian manufacturer of contemporary design furniture for contract and residential, will take part from 16 to 21 April in the 62nd Salone del Mobile.Milano, the world's most important international design event. On its 35th participation, the brand is set to unveil eleven new collections for indoor and outdoor spaces, including brand new collections and extensions of existing collections. These creations are the result of internal research & development and collaborations with international renowed designers.
The booth, titled #PedraliColoursofLightness (Hall 14, Stand A23-B24) and designed by the Milan-based studio DWA Design Studio, reveals an ethereal and dreamlike environment defined by transparencies and characterised by the skillful use of colour and lightweight materials. The entire space concretises as a pure architectural volume, covering over 900 sqm, crafted with a textile gauze in celestial blue colour that allows visitors to glimpse and perceive the interior of the stand. To enhance the idea of lightness, a fabric veil hangs from the ceiling, seemingly responding to the motion of the air, like floating sails moved by the wind. This veil creates an almost transparent ceiling with a cerulean hue that, through a delicate interplay of layers, imparts an architectural rhythm to the area. Simultaneously, it conveys the environment a cozy and almost enchanted atmosphere.
In order to pursue the sustainable philosophy that has always guided the company, attention was paid to the selected materials, the optimisation of raw material consumption, resource rationalisation, material reuse/recycling, and disassemblability in the design phase of the stand.
The celestial blue colour of the architecture is matched by equally soft and delicate shades in different sets, reminiscent of the nuances of the sky throughout the day. Meanwhile, more intense and bold notes of colours characterise the products, highlighting them within the scene. This choice is inspired by the art world, particularly the paintings of Giorgio Morandi and the photographs of Luigi Ghirri.
Pedrali collections are placed on raised platforms made of raw birch wood, recreating various indoor and outdoor settings. In order to guide visitors through an engaging and multisensory journey, a selection of seatings is also placed on the ground to be touched and tested.
The landscape design integrates seamlessly and harmoniously, with nature taking center stage in all installations, defined by shades of colour of different seasons. Delicate ground plants define the outdoor area, while hanging plant compositions create an almost surreal atmosphere within the indoor spaces.
#PedraliColoursofLightness invites people to discover worlds where every nuance tells a story and every moment is a revelation. The journey is a promenade that winds through seven settings, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a sunny day, moving from the cool tones of early morning to the warm tones typical of sunset. The delicate colour of the sky envelops the space, confirming the importance of experiencing open spaces – the same spaces that inspired Mario Pedrali 61 years ago in creating the first collections in wrought iron for outdoor use.
