The Italian company cooperates with the well known Milan architectural Studio on the occasion of the 16th International Architecture Exhibition – Venice Biennale curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara.
Open to the public from Saturday May 26th to Sunday November 25th 2018, at the Giardini and the Arsenale, the 16th International Architecture Exhibition, titled FREESPACE, will be curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara and organized by La Biennale di Venezia headed by Paolo Baratta. The current edition focuses on the topic of space, the quality of space, open and free space.
Within this context of international appeal, Pedrali supports the installation / exhibition "Everyday Wonders - CZ reads LCD", designed by CZA - Cino Zucchi Architetti for Freespace.
Main character of the project is the work of the Milanese architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni (1913-2016). His multi-functional building complex in Corso Italia (1957-64), built in a quarter heavily damaged by bombs during the second war world, unfolds a complex spatial narration from the scale of the city to the one of material and detail, perfect synthesis between invention and relationship with the surrounding urban structure of Milan’s ancient nucleus. The two ‘towers’ in small red ceramic tiles which frame the central setback, the long gallery which crosses the building with the floor mosaic by Francesco Somaini, and the final surprise of the courtyard which holds together building bodies different in height, material, finishing and architectural syntax demonstrate a design freedom allowed only to great talents.
“Everyday wonders – CZ reads LCD” is an installation that takes the form of an uninterrupted film shot passing from the scale of the city to the one of materials and interiors, and that emphasizes the peculiar concept of ‘urbanity’ which from the single work spreads out to the context in space and time.
