Mario Pedrali awarded the "Olivetti Entrepreneur" prize
On 27 May 2017, company founder Mario Pedrali was awarded the special "Olivetti Entrepreneur" prize, established by the Olivetti Historical Archive Association
The award
The special "Olivetti Entrepreneur" prize, inaugurated in 1998 to celebrate the centenary of Olivetti, is awarded to entrepreneurs who pursue the company’s intrinsic values.
Mario Pedrali's story
In the 1960s, Mario Pedrali founded a small workshop in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, in the province of Brescia, where, with artisanal care, he produced his first metal garden seats. He designed the machinery to produce his furniture himself, drawing on a profound knowledge of materials and their characteristics. Since then, his courage and entrepreneurial spirit have enabled the company to keep growing: Mario Pedrali has carried out the necessary investments in an honest, careful and far-sighted manner, resulting in an increase in orders and turnover with the qualitative growth of the company, its collaborators and the target community.
Motivation
This was the official reason given for awarding Mario Pedrali the special "2017 Olivetti Entrepreneur Prize":
"For creating a great furniture factory inspired by an Olivetti-style concept of design and, at the same time, for drawing on his passion as a collector to give life to a great Office Machines Museum in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, housing the best collection of Olivetti typewriters".
