The armchair by Andrea Pedrali competes for the Targa Giovani 2024
Narì armchair, designed by Andrea Pedrali and first presented during the 61st edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, has been selected by the ADI Design Index to compete for the Targa Giovani which will be awarded in 2024. The Targa Giovani, or Youth Section, is a category of the Compasso d'Oro ADI Award dedicated to projects created by design school students as thesis projects or laboratory exercises.
Narì springs from the collaboration with the designer Andrea Pedrali, who wished to pay tribute to his grandfather Mario Pedrali, founder of the company which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2023.
Narì echoes some of the elements of the first forged iron garden chairs from Pedrali’s 1960s collection, in a contemporary key. An outdoor armchair with a solid steel structure and a weather-resistant woven in extruded PVC with a nylon core wrapped around the armrests and backrest. The woven element, created in Italy by expert craftsmen, tightens towards the lower part of the seat and widens towards the top, calling to mind the fan-shaped geometry inspired by the backrest of the Serenella armchair. The seat and backrest accommodate a comfortable polyurethane foam cushion consisting of two sections joined by a zip and resting on the seat with steel slats. The legs are characterised by double steel tube that features a simple and linear shape.
